How the Optus Data Breach Affects You and What You Can Do About It

On Thursday 22nd September, the mobile carrier Optus reported that its customers’ personal information had been compromised in a cyber-attack. If you are an Optus user, then your email address, phone number, name, and date of birth may have been compromised.

We at Razor Tech are here to support you at this disturbing time by offering our services to Optus users. We can help you take precautions to protect yourself from possible fraud by securing your online and financial accounts. If you would like to book an appointment with us or want to ask more questions, please email or phone us. We would be glad to help.

For those of you techies who already have the tech know-how and want to take care of things yourself, we recommend you closely monitor your accounts and devices for strange activity, change any online passwords (including your banking passwords), place spending limits on your financial accounts, and request cancellations of any credit cards on which you suspect fraudulent activity.

If you are an Optus user, you may also receive suspicious texts, emails, or phone calls as a result of this cyber-attack. DO NOT click on links in suspicious emails or text messages, and NEVER give your personal or financial information to an unknown third party.

From all of us here at Razor Tech, we urge you to stay safe.
